Matthew Kolken on Deportation And Removal

San Francisco Immigration Court Partially Closed to Permit Review of Backlogged Deportation Cases

Rate this Entry

The immigration court in San Francisco was partially closed Monday to permit Office of Chief Counsel to review thousands of backlogged deportation cases that remain pending before the Court.  The review of cases is scheduled to last two weeks.  The lucky few will presumably receive a request for administrative closure, which will put them in immigration limbo.  It will be interesting to see how many cases will be deemed "low priority."

TRAC has already determined that less than one percent of the 298,173 cases pending before the Immigration Courts have received a favorable exercise of prosecutorial discretion.

I can't wait to see what TRAC reports about the most recent review.
