Matthew Kolken on Deportation And Removal

Sen. Bob Menendez: Pres. Obama's Deportations an "Outrage" and a "Tragedy"

Rating: 6 votes, 5.00 average.
This week at a gala held by the National Council of La Raza (NCLR) Sen. Bob Menendez (D-N.J.) urged President Obama to ease deportations of immediate family members of citizens, Green Card holders and DREAMers. He stated: "The detention and deportation of moms and dads who are just trying to make ends meet is an outrage and it is a tragedy."

The President maintains the executive authority to expand parole in place to immediate relatives of citizens, and other individuals that are otherwise eligible for a Green Card but for their undocumented status.

The time has long past for him to use it.

"just trying to make ends meet is an outrage and it is a tragedy."

Where in the INA does it say "anyone 'trying to make ends meet' is exempted"? It is like a defense attorney arguing that his client was just trying to make ends meet, provide for his family, etc.

Remember "We must enforce the law, BUT..."? Democrats don't even bother pretending that they take immigration law seriously anymore. So why would non-open border Republicans make a deal with Democrats when they publicly say things like this:

?If we?re dealing with strictly technical violations of immigration law, I don?t believe they should be deported,? Durbin said.

?Our view of the law is that it ? if somebody is here without sufficient documentation, that is not reason for deportation.? -- Nancy Pelosi

"being an undocumented immigrant is not a basis for deportation.? -- Pelosi's spokesman, referring to her "long-held belief."

Deportation referred to as "needless" and "the current deportation apparatus" as "an outrage", and "a tragedy" by Sen. Robert Menendez.

I can only guess what Menendez envisions as his preferred or post-CIR "deportation apparatus". He should explain what that would look like.

It is so obvious that Democrats have no intention of ever taking immigration law seriously that any Republican who makes a deal with people who say things like this could not simply be hopelessly naive but must just be in on the fix.
