Rate this Entry
The Congressional Budget Office released a report today analyzing the fiscal impact of the changes to the immigration bill made by the Hoeven-Corker Amendment. The bill would cost $38 billion more than it cost without the new security provisions, but it also would double the estimated reduction in illegal immigration. The price tag for the additional reduction in illegal immigration - $47,500 per person prevented from entering the US.

Still it says it will cut only 50% after many years. Still there is a chance for 50%. Why cannot they have a target of 80% or 90%?

I don't know, maybe because most Americans are unwilling to pay even $47,500 per person for this reduction? Remember, that's just the low hanging fruit... the further you go, the higher the price.
