Did Christie Inspire Trump's Cruel Remark About Syrian Refugee Children? Roger Algase

Rate this Entry
Update: February 27 at 6:10 pm:

Governor Christie's endorsement is not the only one that Trump has received recently from people who are in the news for one reason or another. The Guardian reports on February 27 that Trump has also received support from former Ku Klux Klan grand wizard David Duke, and even more recently, from the former leader of France's neo-fascist Front National Jean-Marie Le Pen. Both, among many other things, have a history of making openly anti-Semitic statements, and especially in Le Pen's case, making excuses for Nazi Germany.

Trump has also been endorsed by two controversial US governors, Paul LePage (R-Maine) who has compared the IRS to the Holocaust, in addition to making numerous statements which have been widely criticized as racially tinged; and former governor Jan Brewer (R-Arizona), whom The Guardian quotes as saying that undocumented immigrants bring"everything from the crime to the drugs and the kidnappings and the extortion and the beheadings" into the United States.

My original post follows:

The media are salivating over the news story that NJ Governor Chris Christie, who withdrew from a GOP presidential race that he never had any chance of winning, has now endorsed Trump for president. The speculation is over why Christie, who had been typed as an "establishment" Republican, is now backing Trump.

It is hard to see what is so surprising about the endorsement.Trump and Christie are ideological soulmates, if not identical twins, on at least one issue - unbelievable cruelty in their attitudes toward desperate Syrian refugee children.

Here is Christie on the subject of admitting Syrian refugee children to the US (according to CNN, November 17, 2015)

"...and I don't think [Syrian refugee] orphans under five...should be admitted into the United States at this point."

www.cnn.com/2015/11/17/politics/chris-christie-paris-attacks-refugee-orphans/index.html

And this is what Trump had to say on the same subject, as reported in The Hill on February 8:

"I can look in their [Syrian refugee children's] faces and say, 'You can't come here.'"

The above cynical and inhuman comments about Syrian refugee children, even as their bodies continue to wash up on the shores of the Mediterranean, show that Trump and Christie are indeed birds of a feather.

PS: The above does not mean to imply that President Obama has a very high ranking on the scale of humanity toward immigrant children either, as shown by the horrific conditions in his "family detention centers" which my colleague Matt Kolken has written about in such great detail.

Actually, Roger, Trump is completely right in what he is saying. Since President Putin single-handedly ended hostilities in Syria and brought peace, Syrians needs all hands on deck to start rebuilding their country. US has no moral right to steal future from Syria by allowing Syrian children to be brought in the US.

Trump understands that, Israel understands that. That is exactly why Israel is not allowing any Syrian children, women or men to come . This is just not fair for Syrian people.

The only people who try to push this Syrian "refugee" business here are disgusting and greedy for-profit contractors who stuff their pockets by using taxpayers money to bring all kind of moochers here and dump them on already exhausted US taxpayers.

Hillary Clinton's position on refugee children goes one step further: send them back to near certain death.

I really regret to the government, why they didn?t care about the children in Syria. I have recently read the news in some assignmentmasters which makes me sad that the Syrian people were ran away from the country and fell down in water and died all the family in the water. This is really horrible situation that the Syrians are facing.
