Reform Bill About Ready

Rate this Entry

Politico is reporting more details on the Senate immigration bill. All terms appear to be negotiated and it could be introduced as early as tomorrow, but more likely next week.

The timetable for the bill will be somewhat slower than what President Obama hoped. The Senate Judiciary Committee will hold hearings first and then begin markup in early May, according to the report.

Except for David Nakamura repeating the same lines like a broken record in Washington Post, there is not much news on legal immigration.

So much drama for nothing: under current economic conditions and considering that 1/3 of the entire population of this country is unemployed, disabled and retired (about 100 million people), the only logical thing is to legalize the 20 million plus unlawful present immigrants. Legal immigration will have to wait for another legislation since current market conditions are deplorable.

It's no surprise that things will be delayed. After all, immigration reform has been needed for years. It's great to see that progress is being made though.
