WASHINGTON The Supreme Court today has allowed the Department of Homeland Security to largely implement the President's Executive Order and take rational and necessary steps to protect our nation from persons looking to enter and potentially do harm. The granting of a partial stay of the circuit injunctions with regard to many aliens abroad restores to the Executive Branch crucial and long-held constitutional authority to defend our national borders.

The Department will provide additional details on implementation after consultation with the Departments of Justice and State. The implementation of the Executive Order will be done professionally, with clear and sufficient public notice, particularly to potentially affected travelers, and in coordination with partners in the travel industry.

In 279 B.C., King Pyrrhus of Epirus defeated the Romans at Ausculum, but his army suffered such heavy casualties that even now, almost 2,300 years later, we still use the phrase "Pyrrhic victory" to describe a victory that was so costly that it wasn't worth it.

If having probably 95 per cent of the people from the six banned countries who would actually have been successful in getting visas from US Consular officers because of genuine ties to the US without the ban enter the US as exempt from the ban means that Trump was successful in getting the ban upheld by the High Court, then, it would also be fair to say that King Pyrrhus won a yuge victory over the Romans.

I wasn't there, but I doubt that King Pyrrhus looked or felt like a winner after that particular battle.

Really, aren't you the guy who was claiming that the ban hurt 200 million muslims? Are you admitting now that in fact it only hurt the few thousand muslims who were going to come here during the 90-day period?
