Tom Tancredo isn't the only anti-immigrant politician embarrassing Colorado. Representative Doug Bruce (R-Colorado Springs) has stirred up a hornet's nest of controversy when he criticized a proposed pilot program for legal temporary farm workers by saying Colorado does not need "5,000 more illiterate peasants." Bruce garnered headlines not too long ago when he was censured for kicking a photographer for the Rocky Mountain News, one of Denver's two main papers. Whether Bruce will face any sanction is not clear.
Let us face it..this is a democracy. Bruce and Tancredo represent the views of their constituents very well. Kindly read the feedback in the following posting particularly from one John Frost and tell me if you are surprised that people like Tancredo and Bruce get elected...

I also believe that there are folks in CIS and FAIR as well as American Patrol who think like this guy John Frost.

Fewer H1Bs mean higher wages for American programmers and systems analysts as Kirkorian, Camarotta, Vaughan and Stein claim? Think again..

Sam - You make a good point. The Immigrant of the Day column is reserved for immigrants themselves, but certainly Dr. DeBakey's family is an immigration success story.

Hi Greg,
you might want to consider putting Dr Michael E. DeBakey in your immigrant of the day piece. Although he is an American Citizen by birth his parents were Lebanese immigrants. How many such people we are loosing because the politicians did not have the courage to pass the dream act (I do understand that born citizens would not come under the dream act nor do they need it but what is the difference between a child that was born here or who came here when they were too young to remember where they were born). He was recently awarded Congressional Gold Medal for his services in the field of medicine here is the link to the press release. http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2008/04/20080423-3.html

Whites in Colorado elect bigots like Tancredo, Musgrave and this moron Bruce..does Rasmussen seriously expect me to believe his polls that Obama is slightly ahead of McCain in Colorado? I would say that some of the whites are lying to the pollsters. I lived there during the summer of 2006..some of them are pretty open with their bigotry..young white women in Littleton and Evergreen complained about Asian mail order brides whom supposedly Tancredo wants to stop, and there was this 40 year old white woman in Highlands Ranch who told me that they moved because they did not approve of their son dating an Asian American girl in High School.
