Whinny stupid enviromentalists worry about the border fence blocking migrating wildlife well birds are not blacked by any fence they fly right over them and if these granola munching jerks dont like it then tell them to GO TAKE A HIKE

"Merely saying that accusing him of racism based on what he's stated here is unfair."

I agree. As most of the regulars here are aware I am for granting unconditional "amnesty" to the illegals coupled with a liberalization of the legal immigration paths. However, people should not be allowed to simply slip into the country. E-verify is more intrusive than a border fence. E-verify should be opposed and a border fence SHOULD be built.

"I'm not defending or attacking his views on illegal immigration. Merely saying that accusing him of racism based on what he's stated here is unfair."

Yes. But it doesn't matter. Liberals tend to pull the race card all too easily.

This is such a well known phenomenon that the anti-immigration literature trains people on how to handle it.

Sid, but you can't deny that his rant's logic goes from "fense" to "all illegals", which is how he is thinking about the issue - all illegals are entering through holes in the border. This is simply not true - he just chooses to ignore that potential illegals are sitting next to him on the airplane, and no fense will prevent them from entering and staying.

I actually don't think he is racist. I just think is just a garden variety "better then thou" bigot. Oh well, payback's a bitch, and I am sure he will get a major one some day.

First of all, the border patrol apprehends more than 100K non-Mexicans trying to cross the southern border every year. So, I don't understand why trying to secure the border would have to be construed as racism. There was an article on NYTimes recently that a group of Chinese immigrants were arrested by the border patrol. The point is that he did not direct his ire towards a particular race. He didn't say that it was OK for Indians to arrive in the US on visitor visas and not return.

I'm not defending or attacking his views on illegal immigration. Merely saying that accusing him of racism based on what he's stated here is unfair.

Sid, how about references to the border fense? No, really, only about a half of the illegal immigrants come with no inspection, but this guy refuses to accept the reality of the fact that many illegal immigrants were lawfully admitted just like him (and some probably came on the same plane as him). His view of illegal immigration is of course a bunch of Mexican crawling over the border, that's why he is so delusional about fenses "working". As far as e-verify goes - all of the illegals I personally know have their own SS numbers because they came as students of temporary workers (how about that to cool his brahmin fervor?), and they don't care about e-verify. I believe most [so much hated] Mexican workers have American born children in their households, and it would not be a hige issue to use their kids number. The rest will work totally off the books - I guess this is what this guy calls "the right direction".

AV,

Your opinion about how to handle the issue of illegal immigration may be different from indianGuy's. I would like to know what exactly he said here that proves that he's a racist. He did not say that all Hispanics or Asians should be sent back. It was a statement about all illegal immigrants. You are obviously entitled to your own opinion about what should be a fair policy regarding illegal immigration but don't blindly accuse people of racism if they don't agree with you.

Indianguy the typical Immigrant with blinders on, I guess that probes that there are people with no common sense everywhere in world regardless on how educated or book smart they may be, do we really need to import more racism in America.

indianGuy, NumbersUSA fully agree with every word of yours.

Enviormental reasons for not constructing the fence is the biggest nonsense I have ever heard. Those illegals leave thousands of tons of garbage in the desert. What about that, huh? Fences work. Thats why pro-illrgal immigration people are against it. The biggest positive thing that we can do to save the environment in this country is to round these illegals up and send them back to their countries.

Lots of positive steps have been taken in the last few months. E-verify, this ruling and others. I am really happy that we are gradually moving in the right direction.

The merits are that the fence will not resolve the immigration issue is pure political cover for Washington to say they are doing something about it. That money could be put to better use if they get to work on the issue in a realistic way. But hey if we do not mind the government wasting our tax dollars on the ridiculous fence build it is a stupid idea and it will bring about a stupid results.

Oh well... That whole story about the tiger, or whatever animal there was, that was going to be affected was complete BS anyway. At least argue the issue on its own merits (i.e. immigration, economics, etc.) rather than using tigers, pandas, etc.

Great news. Enviro wackos wont be able to block the fence.
Take that open border goons!!!
