Following Europe's lead, Canada is instituting a fast track policy to make it easier and faster for foreign students to get permanent status. Congress, are you awake?

"That whole theory about less H1B = more jobs for americans sells good to the sound bite voters that watch Fox News or Lou Dobbs."
The truth slips out every once in a while. As in this gem of a quote from Norm Matloff following a recent committee decision on an employment based immigration bill-
"The industry lobbyists’ argument that they will then go and “work for our foreign competitors, taking knowledge gained from U.S. companies” is absurd, since these same companies operate R&D centers abroad."
Or in other words, it is ok if foreigners work for American companies, just as long as they don't do it in America.

With this kind of approach (to put it mildly) or bigotry (to put it harshly) we would not have had Liang Chow coaching Shawn Johnson or Lang Ping coaching the women's volleyball team...

Perhaps Carol Bevins is listening to the racists at FAIR, Numbers USA and Center for Immigration Studies!

Too many deluded Americans not very different from Nancy Pelosi who really thinks that Americans have moved past racism and if anything Obama's support is underestimated in the polls.

Too many deluded individuals in the US including the congress. Today in the Washington Examiner a guy from Numbers USA, Gene Nelson really thinks that fewer H1-Bs means more jobs for Americans. Obviously despite Obama talking about taking away tax breaks for corporations which moves jobs abroad, the reality of this has not hit the deluded Numbers USA writer, Gene Nelson, although he might be too racist and close minded to notice. Perhaps he does not care if jobs move abroad, just does not want foreigners in this country. Then again there are a lot of deluded political writers and politicians such as Pelosi who think Obama is going to win in a landslide and the polls underestimate his strenth. A nation of delusionals or folks suffering from Alzheimers.

One thing that US can do is to make F1 advanced degree students dual intent like H1.
