I find it fascinating that Siskind opposes the SKIL bill, which was sponsored by that "anti" Cornyn. Equally fascinating is Siskind's opposition to Chambliss's S. 2087, an extensive H-2A reform bill that would have, amongst much else, at long last allowed the dairy industry to use the H-2A program and granted a de facto amnesty to illegal alien ag workers. Typical, superficial analysis from an outsider and AILA party man who has no government or legislative experience and zero understanding of political realities.

Don't take CIR Guy's or my word for it. Go check out Chambliss' record at NumbersUSA.org. Chambliss got special recognition as one of the anti-immigrant group's favorite Senators especially because of his support for the Save Act. NumbersUSA doesn't give you an A rating if you're a friend of immigrants.

"Mr. Siskind's inaccurate characterization."
Let's not mislead the voters here. Initially, he was in fact one of the reluctant sponsors of CIR2007. However, at the first opportunity he bolted from the group and thus sabotoged the Legislation from within. As Greg and George have pointed out he is a NumbersUSA (which works with/is affliated with the hate group, FAIR) "A Lister." I too would urge all persons who want immigration reform to vote but for his oponent, Jim Martin. I believe that Mr. Martin is ahead but he needs every vote to get to 50% (there are third party candidates on the ballot) in order to avoid a December run-off for the 60th seat.
As regards, the other "A Listers", Sununu (Mr. Sununu was my classmate from MIT, fortunately, I did not know him as he was a mere ME while I was an EE :-; and my Junior (sic) at Harvard. I must admit that these great institution failed Mr. Sununu) & Dole. I believe that these individuals will go down in defeat. With the loss of these three, the vitriolic atmosphere should dissipate and the prospect of immigration reform should be enhanced.

Chambliss is pro immigration notwithstanding Mr. Siskind's inaccurate characterization. Let's all remember that he sponsored the CIR bill. Everyone who wants CIR reform should make sure they go out and vote for his re-election.

It would be interesting to know how they graded the HR and Senators. From a first look, they seem to have given more weight to the issue of illegal immigration. That would explain why Cornyn gets a B+ while Durbin gets an F although their positions on immigration cannot be defined in black or white.

Of this list, Sununu is most likely history, Dole is probably gone and Chambliss is hanging on...

Interesting Tancredo is not on their list...

"If you want to know who is pro- and anti- immigration, use the Numbers USA ratings. Cornyn gets a B+ from them. Chambliss gets an A. I think you're the one who needs the reality check."
I definitely will be counting the number of House Immigration Reform Caucus members who loose their seats..the leader among them, Marilyn Musgrave.
Chambliss has been very anti-immigration, period, not just anti-illegal immigration.

So Cornyn, the author of the SKIL Bill (an AILA wish list for business immigration "reform"), is now an "anti"? Chambliss, who sponsored numerous agricultural worker reform bills, including bills that would have provided waivers of the 3/10 year bar for illegal ag workers, is an "anti"? You people have no idea what you're talking about.

Greg, has picked up on this but for those who haven't prominent Senate antis are on the ropes and might well lose their seats. Namely, Chambliss, Dole, Sununu (he voted NO on the CIR2007 cloture motion) & Cornyn. Additionally, the Minority Leader's seat might be the icing on the cake!

"Someone's sold you a bill of goods. Lots of things trump religion."
When I lived in India, a white Baptist preacher in India from Alabama condemned a Christian family for disowning their daughter after she married someone outside their caste. This family had converted to Christianity some fifty years before. Later on I find out that he had disowned his daughter for marrying a black man. He is a white skin worshipping pagan, not a Christian in my books. This is what I was getting at!

"They claim to be Christians..they are white skin worshipping pagans..they dont worship Christ at least the Christ I am familiar with. Skin color trumps religion."
Someone's sold you a bill of goods. Lots of things trump religion. There are any number of examples from the two world wars (between Christian nations), the Iran-Iraq war (between Islamic nations), the civil war or the embargo on Cuba (a Christian nation).

"They are Christians all right, but the their claim that religion can overcome racial or ethnic differences is overstated."

Beg to differ here. They are Christians all right, but the their claim that religion can overcome racial or ethnic differences is overstated. Just look at the number of segregated churches and the increasing number of denominations for confirmation.

The immigration debate tells us that the GOP is not pandering to real Christians. Real Christians dont treat other Christians the way the GOP is doing especially when facing a radical islam threat. It does not look like that the GOP is serious about countering the radical islam threat through unity among Christians. Instead the GOP is pandering to white skin worshipping pagans many of whom call themselves Christian. Half the Christian fundamentalists in the south are white skin worshipping pagans hiding behind the Christian label. In that regard these so-called Christians are not any different from the "idolatorous Asians" that they condemn. The GOP is in this predicament because of the economy, for sure. But, their pandering to the white skin worshipping pagans led by Tancredo, Musgrave, Blackburn, Westmoreland and Nathan Deal among others was not going to help their cause! However, having said that the Dems need a gain of at least thirty seats in the House and eight seats in the Senate to counter the white skin worshippers GOP wave in 2010, especially if the CIR is passed.
