IMMIGRANT OF THE DAY: MIGUEL BLAS-MATUS - MEDICAL STUDENT

Miguel Blas-Matus' story is another example of the tenacity of many out of status immigrants in the US. He entered the US legally from his native Mexico with his US citizen wife, but due to what seems to be malpractice but an incompetent immigration lawyer (I wish I could say this was more rare than it actually is),  he fell out of status. For many years, the former doctor from Mexico labored in the fields of apple farms in the Northwest US. He later was able to become an nursing assistant, but when his father in Mexico became gravely ill, he returned to his home and was barred from reentering legally. He crossed back in to the US illegally and was apprehended. While in detention, his father died.

Blas-Matus was deported and subjected to a ten year bar on reentering. His wife worked diligently on rectifying the situation and in 2003 he was able to re-enter the US. And seven years later he has entered a physician assistant program and is now a US citizen.

Sen. Harry Reid has become recognized with utter distaste and arrogance, because of his attitude to the American Worker. Americans have no trust in Senator Harry Reid, or his co-conspirator that includes House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, or Dianne Feinstein. The inception of the first "Sanctuary Policy" was Feinstein's and now California is overloaded with illegal aliens. They are all catering to the open border--Special Interest lobby. That's why they killed E-Verify? A very efficient tool to remove Illegal aliens from the workplace. However E-Verify is still funded till September, and Reid, Pelosi better hope it is revitalized or--THEIR--jobs are on the chopping block. Other than E-verify to track down 40 million illegal aliens, use the Census taking to report them to ICE?

If these lawmakers were interested in assisting the American worker, why would Homeland security chief suppress ICE raids? These political signatories who cut funding for the border fence, lied about its actual construction and it's physical length as well. Read their awful immigration grades at NUMBERSUSA. Call Washington to stop this travesty; 202-224-3121 We must also ask the question? Is the illegal immigration situation causing nationwide taxes to escalate? Federal law demands we pay for their health care, education and selective benefits.

With a new AMNESTY in the pipeline. Should it pass? That means more money out of your taxes. To pay for millions more, who are sure to come? This includes the whole family circle they can sponsor? Old, young, sick, mentally handicapped will get SSI, benefits--without ever paying into Social Security. KICK THEM OUT!

He entered the US legally but only as a temporary visitor. He should have followed the law, and applied for immigrant resident status in his native Mexico. It would have taken him 6 months. Ghe decided instead to break a handful of immigration laws.

May I most humbly request you to kindly give your opinion on what is happening with reintroduction of 2009 version of 5924. Chris had mentioned that there is a possibility on 27th Mar but nothing happened.

Is anything going on in terms of bringing back Schedule A for nurses? There was so much talk, but I do not see any law being introduced or voted upon. Very sad to say, especially with this nursing shortage.
