An interesting survey showing 51% of voters in one of America's most politically conservative states favor legalizing illegally present immigrants in one form or another:
Tennesseans appear ambivalent about how best to deal with illegal immigrants currently working in the United States. The largest proportion (43 percent) says such illegal immigrants should be required to leave their jobs and leave the country. But the next largest proportion (29 percent) takes the opposite view, saying such individuals should be allowed to stay in their jobs and eventually apply for U.S. citizenship. Finally, another 22 percent say such individuals should be allowed to stay in their jobs, but only as temporary guest workers ineligible for U.S. citizenship. Another 5 percent are undecided, and the rest give no answer.
Most Republicans (54 percent) favor making illegal immigrants leave the country. Democrats and independents are more evenly distributed across the three options, with independents most closely resembling the overall state percentages, and Democrats mostly polarized between the deportation and citizenship options.
Behind the obvious political party divisions, race becomes important, with whites more supportive than non-whites of deportation. Support for deportation is especially strong among lesser educated white males, perhaps due to perceived economic competition with illegal immigrants.

Ditto for the Chinese buying property in this country using the treasuries we sold them. The fact that there are a lot of Chinese buying property in this country and wanting to immigrate (if that is indeed the case) or for that matter Asians buying up foreclosed homes in return for Green Cards has everything to do with the choices we made and the consequences of those choices!

"Majority of Obama coalition did not participate in the voting yesterday which mean they are not upset about Obama but they are dissappointed with the slow pace of reforms he promised."
The Dems will loose anywhere between 25-30 seats in congress next year and three to four seats in the Senate if the present situation continues.

TEA party candidate looses in NY-23 race. This is a clear indication of refusal of TEA ideology. The election results from NJ and VA is a warning call for Dems to start moving important leglisations like immigration immediately. Majority of Obama coalition did not participate in the voting yesterday which mean they are not upset about Obama but they are dissappointed with the slow pace of reforms he promised

"China being largest holder at 6% of GDP. While holding significant treasuries, what are Chinese/Japanese gonna do if not export to US?"
Buy up property in the US and move into the friendly white neighborhoods of Memphis, Chattanooga, Knoxville and Nashville, where a large number of expensive houses were foreclosed! It is happening in Huntington Beach, CA and the local whites dont like it and people were complaining to Dan Rohrbacher their Rep about it!

"As I said, if they dont like foreigners who look different moving into their neighborhoods, they need to pay up..."
Most debt by govt of US is owed to its own people. Foreign govt debt is nearly 25% of GDP. China being largest holder at 6% of GDP. While holding significant treasuries, what are Chinese/Japanese gonna do if not export to US? US govt debt is too small to listen to any foreign conditions, unlike to what happened with Britain listening to US after WWII.

Anti's don't understand that they are in the wrong side of history and the writing is on the wall. I predict we are going to see chaos if the CIR does not make progress in during the first quarter next year. Pro immigration rallies are going to completely drown Tea party rallies.

"Behind the obvious political party divisions, race becomes important, with whites more supportive than non-whites of deportation."
With all due respect to Greg's home-state, I would have to say that TN is one of the moderately racist states in the country with pockets of intense racism found within the state. One such pocket is Marsha Blackburn's district. I once had an interesting encounter with Marsha Blackburn in a flight from DC (it was either NW or Delta I think) which makes me believe that she is a true rep of that state. I wont tell you what that encounter exactly was...it was not an altercation..it was a behavior towards a young woman in her late teens or early twenties, who let us say had a CA accent, and let us say in the eyes of Council of Conservative Citizens is not a "real" American.
However, this is beside the point. Forget illegals for a while and listen to the complaints of some of these folks, many of whom are racists talk about demographic dilution. Right or wrong, everyone has a right to sovereignty and right to protect their home..however, the home is no longer theirs if they are heavily mortgaged and in the danger of being foreclosed. Crying about protecting the demographic complexion of the country when you are nose deep in debt to people who look different from you, is not very different from one Beverly Hills divorce lawyer for Hollywood celebrities who earns two million a year but "owns" a 40 million dollar home and the bank is breathing down his neck. These guys technically "own" their territory as much as the Beverly Hills lawyer "owns" his 40 million dollar home...the racist Council of Conservative Citizens tells me that they want their state and country back and chase all migrants including the rich Chinese out of the South..the League of South and the Sons of Confederate Veterans tell me the same thing too...I tell them that this is subject to discussion...they can start re-owning their country by paying off the debt to the Chinese and other non-whites that they really hold in contempt! The same applies to the antis at the national level and international level, mostly from heavily Caucasian countries...they complain that many Asians want to come to their countries buy things up, their daughters marry their sons, and put down roots thus diluting their ethnicity..forget the fact that they love their fat expat salaries in Asia...but let us look at the death penalty analogy. Many conservatives and racists referring to the beltway shooter on death row to be executed next week, say "let us not loose sight of what put him in this predicament!" Exactly right! Let us not loose sight of what put us in this predicament..borrowing from non-white countries and spending like there is no tomorrow! They cannot have it both ways!
