Haitians in the United States on January 12, 2010 are going to be eligible for Temporary Protected Status for 18 months. An estimated 100,000 to 200,000 applicants will be permitted to file as soon as notice is posted in the Federal Register (probably early this week). Here is an FAQ on Temporary Protected Status that I think is a little more concise and easier to understand than the one published by USCIS and it's also broad enough to provide information to TPS countries other than Haiti. As always, I don't mind people emailing me suggestions for improving the document or if they have corrections.
