Some of the advocacy groups have been reporting that Deferred Action beneficiaries will be able to enlist in the military as a result of the new policy. Not so. Even with an employment authorization document, deferred action recipients are not eligible to enlist. Hopefully, this will change.

This is starting to smell like the so called Morton memo all talk and political posturing very little in action. While I do not discount the move as un-important, the implementation part could serve as an even better motivator for the LATINO vote.

"This leads to the question what happens to people who apply for deferred action and their applications are denied since the criteria is very narrow ?"
Who will handle/adjudicate these deferred action applications? Do these people have to pay any fee for processing these applications at all or will these be done for free as Mr President was saying these people are americans. Will the DHS do any background checks at all before they start issuing EADS ?

The devil is in the details and the details though sketchy right now don't look very appealing.

Definition of DREAMERS : Those who are born on or after 1982 and entered United States between 1998 and 2007.
Which makes me to believe that there are going to be thousands of people who will not be able to avail of the deferred action and therefore are subject to deportation.

Since this proposal is not through an executive order, it won't require another executive order to be overturned.
Even if one qualifies for deferred action it is a very temporary fix and their status could be again in jeopardy come 2014 if another administration decides to interpret deferred action laws differently.
So looks like there are lot of questions and very few answers ...
