"Yes, they are a lower priority, but that doesn't mean ICE is supposed to direct ZERO resources towards arrest and removal of aliens falling into that category. "
I don't know about you, but I would like them to direct all their resources on catching criminals than to catch a grandma. Infact if they have extra money, then govt should spend that money on catching other criminals (illegal or not) than to catch grandma. Spending money (which is limited in today's time) on catching innocent aliens when criminals are roaming free doesn't make any sense.

Yes, 2013, she wanted desperately to be with her family in the US, and thus she is a grave danger to everyone in society.

No "message" was being sent. The woman was a felonious illegal re-entrant who had been previously removed. See INA 276. Such illegal re-entrants are on the ICE "priorities" memo from March 2011. Note that the priorities memos do NOT mean that no aliens falling under Priority #2 will be touched until every single alien in the U.S. falling under Priority #1 is arrested and removed, or that #3 can't be touched until every alien under #2 is removed, etc. This is a widespread misunderstanding of the memos. "Non-criminal"illegal aliens remain removable and, though lower on the priorities list than criminal aliens, ARE on the list. Yes, they are a lower priority, but that doesn't mean ICE is supposed to direct ZERO resources towards arrest and removal of aliens falling into that category. And, again, the woman in this case was not a run-of-the-mill "innocent" illegal alien: she had been previously arrested, put through the full immigration court process, and REMOVED, but demonstrated flagrant contempt for U.S. law by returning again illegally.

Even if they don't want to give citizenship, least they can do is give some residential status and bring them out of living in shadows. This is just pure inhumane.

On one hand we are congratulating people from other countries who fight for freedom and promoting freedom in other countries. On other hand we have such draconian laws in our own country to harass individual families. How can one such little family not feel helpless against such powerful and big government? Slowly and surely our liberties are taken away in name of God knows what. Nothing more inhumane than a kid being separated from her family, in name of some stupid law and Washington gridlock. Even worse when its done to shut up activists. Really dark day for the country.
