Unions Are Now Pro-Immigration Force

Benjy Sarlin at Talking Points Memo writes about how unions have gone from being anti-immigration as late as the 1990s to one of the major forces promoting comprehensive immigration reform. That the US Chamber of Commerce and Big Labor are on the same side of this issue should tell you that the time has come for this important legislation and that only extremists oppose change (including a path to citizenship).

Only racists and bigots and those that believe in southern strategy and those who want to maintain their corrupt lifestyles in states such as Louisiana which have one of the fewest immigrant populations in the country, are against any form of immigration, legal or illegal. Many such people hide behind environment preservation and the law. In fact, there are politicians in Louisiana more concerned about people breaking immigration law while they break the laws on bribery and corruption with impunity!
